1.Infield/Pitching Mound 80 ft/54 ft
2.Games are 7 inning…or 6.5 if home team ahead
3.Six run rollover rule applies to all innings. Score 6 runs and rollover to defense
4.All games are no new inning after 1 hour 30minutes from first pitch. One additional inning can be played under the time limit using International tiebreaker at 2nd base for both teams. The last runner out in the previous inning is that player. After one inning... the last team
to score would be declared the winner. The last out of the bottom of the previous inning determines the game length.
5.Teams should be fielded with 9 players…in the event of short players…the opponent will furnish defensive players on a rotating basis mostly in outfield. Those defensive
players will bat with their own team only.
6.Pitch count is 80 pitchers per day. After 80 pitches 4 days of rest is required
7.Defensive play is free substitution.
8.Team may bat 9, 10 or 11 players. Offensive batting may only occur in one spot in the batting order.
9.Courtesy runner for pitcher and catcher if desired.
10.Mound visits limited to 3 per game….unless changing pitchers.
11.Offensive substitutions are reported to the umpire
12.One umpire per game. In the event of no umpire…both team coaches will umpire on rotating basis from behind the mound.
13.Team Make up….is by number. #1 team is Varsity and teams after that are classified
by their number order. If there are 4 teams at school….#4 is the team with the least experience. Players can move between teams…to fill in slots…but don’t abuse that policy with 2-3 best players playing at all levels. That is not in the spirit of ASD Middle School Baseball.
14.Players will be furnished jersey’s, hats, pants, belts and socks. The pants and belts
Will be returned at the end of the season. The players keep all other items. Players are asked to be in uniform…but don’t stop a student from playing because they forgot their jersey.
15.Players must get in 10 practices a day before games start on Sept 7.The jamboree’s on Aug 24 and 31 e ach count as a practice. Students who are participating in cross country or boy’s basketball only have to participate in 5 baseball practices to be eligible for games.
16.Middle school teams may have up to two HS age baseball players to help mentor
Middle school players. They can coach bases, run drills in practice. The can also
stand in as umpire…if no umpire is present at a game. It is the Middle School Head
coach responsibility to communicate with your feeder school for names and phone
contact with those players. If your school cannot furnish them, you can reach out to
17.All practices will take place at the school from 4;15 to 5:30pm. M-F It is the
Middle School coach responsibility to communicate that info to the school office so students and parent know. At the start of the season…teams are expected to practice 3 times a week…or more. After the first set of games on Sept 7…practices
Can be limited 1-2 per week. If there are new students…additional practices can be scheduled at coach’s discretion to allow players to become eligible. Attending an actual game and participating in warm ups…counts as a one practice per day.
18.Recruiting of new players is encouraged by attending lunches at each middle school
19.A separate set of Jamboree rules for Aug 24 and 31 will be distributed in advance.
20.The schedule for games on Sept 7, 14, 21 and 28 will be published the TUESDAY
Before each game. This is to allow flexibility for schools to increase/decrease the number of teams each week based on participation. This allows the most student participation…which is a goal of ASD Middle School Baseball.
21.Most Saturdays teams will play two games. Some night games at Mulcahy will be scheduled from Sept 8 thru Sept 27…M-F.
